Zenzuu -this is a new social network with an interesting variation -members get paid a portion of advertising revenue. It's free to join. I don't know that much about it, so we'll have to see if the concept catches on. But it seems like it's worth joining as a possible opportunity.

MySpace -everyone knows this one. I don't like some things about it -too much hype and spam. But it's the biggest and also a good way for musicians and other artists to network.

My Space

Tribe.net is a smaller, more focused social network than Myspace. It's more geared towards alternative culture and communities. For example, Burning Man is a very popular topic here. A large percentage of Tribe members are on the West Coast, but they also have members worldwide. Tribe

Gaia Community A newer social network dedicated to issues like the environment, social activism and spirituality. Gaia Community

CouchSurfing is a great site for budget travelers. As the name suggests, you can request or offer a "couch" -a place to stay anywhere in the world. Or, if this isn't possible, you can still meet people while you or they are traveling for coffee, siteseeing, etc. CouchSurfing
