I was originally attracted to this magazine for attempts to expose capitalist exploitation especially in marketing our way of life. I agree with you in that I don't see much that is offered to change anything in a practical way except maybe yourself but that is good. I feel it is generally successful in that way with me and perhaps with perceptive readers who don't want to fit the society norms 'just because'. I am bothered however by what seems to be to me subtle preachiness regarding the mideast conflict between israelites and palestinians and other conflicts worldwide. It seems a little divergent from talking about ads and icons and more like trying to influence my 'choosing sides'. The magazine seems to be involved with showing you how to 'see through' the guises and let you presumably think as a reasonable person might so I say let me choose my own sides. The magazine comes across as cult like when they start to expound specifically from the more generalized overview. Of course there are lots of specific points that anyone can make about right and wrong but to me that is politics. There is too much of that sort of thing in the magazine so I quit buying it. If that's what they want to do then call the magazine something else like War Mongering World Journal or Corporate Times and at least invite comments from all sides but don't get me interested in the ad theme and then try to sidewind me with attempts to influence me politically. That's what the typical magazines all do. Its there right of course to go that route and mine of course to buy or not. I would say to them to be a little more trusting of the reader to think for themselves. Steve Jaubert

The Amazing Randi isn't amazing, he's a boneheaded atheistic materialist who parlays attacking 'cutting edge' research, borderline science & anything & everything that has to do w/ spiritual, psychic or 'Borderline'/ Liminal science into his bank account. He's one of the heads of the narrow minded reductionist Hit Squads that target anyone who steps out of line in the funda-mental Church of Science, you know where we're all just a bunch of accidental descendants from a random ice ball that collided w/ Earth. They run a media campaign slandering their targets w/crackpot, quack, fundamentalist, etc. There is no 'Mind', or soul or anything resembling a Divine Intelligence; according to them there's just a physical brain. 'God' forbid you mention something like "Intelligent Evolution"(mine) or some such thing. People have been hounded out of their jobs by their slimey tactics. He makes politicians look good.

A video for seekers who have challenged their own selves. In law school, a case was presented regarding a dog that was beaten. I was the only student who brought up the rights of the animal, and was laughed at. I enjoyed the video because it was straight forward, friendly, highly provoking, and forgiving of those who still possess polarity rather than "duality." I disagree with one concept presented. The artificial person was equated to a firm. Households are a different object than a firm, and one household can if they wish to be a corporation. Every household is made out to be economised both privately and publicly. I think that the matters presented can be taken further using network theories and mathematics. Ancient tracings are indeed very powerful only to those who have spent a great deal of time thinking for themselves. Since Sherlock Holmes is popular right now, it is interesting to note Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's story "When the Earth Screamed." The idea of Gaia has been around for a while, and the time is ripe for accepting this hidden entropy. Nothing goes very far from the physical, and the video shows this thread as well as any musical composition by Bach would in the language of nature: physics. It was interesting to hear where the word "Israel" came about. Word magic as it is called is really about pure reasoning but with limitation to language symbols. Millions of years of thought can be summed up in a simple word or symbol. Lichtenburg in one of his wastebooks wrote,"I don't know why it is, but the word Ionian seems to mean much more than what is said in the lexicon." And so too is this word magic at the heart of our desire to express as the ancient learned people did for us.

"I think everyone who considers themselves educated or well-informed should at least expose themselves to alternative possibilities."

Wouldn't that be nice!

I find it disconcerting that there is so much of this black and white thinking about climate change. If I question at all I am seen as dismissing or attacking and obviously I do not care about the environment. This seems to be the popular assumption. It is a dynamic which applies to more and more subjects lately.

This is a very interesting blog. Thanks for publishing your perspective.

Thank you for spreading the word about Scanners, a large and misunderstood section of the population. Barbara Sher says that once you realize you're a Scanner (and that there's nothing wrong with being interested in everything), you only need to find a group of like-minded, supportive people (i.e., your "Tribe") to help you do everything you love. People can visit her website (www.barbarasher.com) to join a free Scanner forum. Also, Barbara will be running a 5-day retreat in France this April (for info, go to www.geniuspress.com)
