Bougies

What are “bougies” and how do they relate to the Liminal Worlds theme? Bougies is simply a slang take on bourgeoisie, similar in meaning to yuppies or bobos (which is short for bohemian bourgeoisie).

Bougies Rule! is a light, satirical look at the bougie subculture. While it’s meant to be funny and tongue-in-cheek, I also see it as a piece of amateur sociology. To satirize the modern middle class, after all, it’s necessary to rethink much of what we take for granted in today’s society.

As I see it, bougies themselves may or may not be liminal, but to explore some of the beliefs and habits of any subculture is almost always a liminal activity.
