A meme (the word was coined by the biologist Richard Dawkins) is simply defined as a cultural gene -a belief, habit, more or idea that spreads through society, a kind of cultural virus. The notion of an Abundance Meme is based on the idea that what has been called abundance or prosperity consciousness is spreading through society.

The popularity of abundance-related books and movies, most notably The Secret and the Abraham books by Esther and Jerry Hicks seems to suggest that people are catching on to ideas like the Law of Attraction. This is more than simply people "wanting more money." It's a belief in a rather sophisticated, if controversial metaphysical way of thinking -the belief that thoughts and emotions create reality.

The Abundance Meme Project is an attempt to accelerate the spreading of the abundance meme. It is designed to help fill some of the gaps that often arise between the theory and practice of abundance consciousness. That is, once you've read the books, watched the videos, done your affirmations, have arranged your home so the feng shui is perfect...then what? Does money, love, success, the ideal home, etc. suddenly come into your life magically? Hopefully, yes. However, often there is a lag between your efforts and the results you desire.

Much has been written about the philosophical and metaphysical reasons for delays and blocks. Abraham, for example, talks eloquently about the "buffer of time," without which all of our thoughts, including unwanted ones, would instantly manifest.

The main focus of AMP (Abundance Meme Project) is to instigate practical channels through which prosperity can flow. This can occur through networking, innovative methods of funding projects, home businesses. and possibly even creating whole new institutions around set ideas like money, work and businesses.
